2008 Redo of front living area which also served as a spare bedroom for Kate & Tim when they were here.

Family Room originally looked like this in 2008. We had pulled up all the carpets downstairs (due to cat & doggie accidents) after I finally broke the steamer from overuse. At the time we could not agree on floor treatments so we painted the concrete floors in the rooms and left the pergo in the hallway and entryway.  I had handpainted the walls using a combination of stamping and washing techniques.

Our original intent was to remove the entire wall separating the two living areas but when the wall was removed we realized there were plumbing lines that would require a lot more time, money and effort than we wanted so we improvised.  We now have cabinets installed in the walls and a 90 gallon aquarium that can be seen from either room.  It will also allow extra light into the back family room which received no direct light ever.  I hate dark rooms and winter when there is little sunlight.  It is totally depressing so anything that will allow for extra lighting I am all for it!!

Looking down onto foyer from upstairs. This entire floor had to be sanded down to remove the glue used to lay the pergo down.

Doug’s office:

The new fireplace is gorgeous! I love the stacked stone and the travertine that was used for the hearth.  It is so much warmer than the prefab that was originally installed in the house.
