Just when I was feeling left out of the snow we actually got some here in Georgia on Friday!! It was cold and beautiful and manueverable in. By Saturday the roads were completely clear and all but a few piles here and there were left on Sunday. It’s good to have snow in the south 🙂
when the snow started earlier in the day on Friday:
and Saturday morning it was just so gorgeous outside and quiet!!
Our last stop before heading home and as we left town was to see the Hunley. Too cool. Much much smaller than I had imagined. The mock ups that they have available for kids (and adults) to climb in are larger than the actual Hunley was. No way I could get into that little sardine can, those men who did have my complete admiration!! Couldn’t take pics of the actual Hunley unfortunately but it’s still cool to see in person.
After checkout we went down to the waterfront and saw the houses on Rainbow Row. They are so cool! We drove around the battery and walked the park and along the waterfront. Seeing gulls and dolphins too. Never seen dolphins in their natural habitat before and it was way cool!!
There were a half dozen dolphins swimming either alone or in pairs. I wish I could have captured a pic of them jumping out of the water. They were so pretty!
After sightseeing at Fort Sumter we headed to the Holiday Inn on Calhoun Street. Our room was on the right corner on the top floor with a balcony! LOVED IT!!! I can hardly wait to go back and I want the same room too.
It was a beautiful day and the sky was clear and blue. We headed downtown to AW Shucks for supper and it was really really good too.
Next morning more pics from the balcony. The day was a little gray and later began to drizzle but it was still a good day.
Doug and I took a trip mid January to Charleston, South Carolina for the weekend…. just the two of us!!! We have both been to Charleston but not together so it was a lot of fun to see the city together. There were too many things to do to get it all done in the time we had so we will go back again sometime in the future. We had lots of fun and saw lots of stuff and here are some of the pictures.
First stop (after lunch at East Bay Deli which was yum) Fort Sumter:
